I remember looking in amazement at the two stuffed tigers that were kept in glass cases in what is now the meeting room. I was born in 1956 and these memories are preschool memories, so I would say around 1959 to 1960. Some people claim to remember the tigers being kept in an area that is now the new cafe, but for me, my only memories are of the tigers in the meeting room. I can also remember this room having a lot of budgies flying about above my head. Does anyone else have Cedars Park memories in the late fifties early sixties?
Interesting, because after that it became the old cafe building. Behind it were the men's toilets, and shortly after it became the meeting room and main toilet block. I would assume this was before the Friends started using the old women's toilet block, just behind Pets' Corner, or what is now the Cedars Nature Centre. While I was not here in the 50s-60s, I can tell you that what people are probably referring to are the old paintings on the building that is now the new cafe. They were of tigers, but I don't remember any stuffed ones. So that's probably what they're thinking of when speaking about tigers in that area.
The room is the same size as the old gents toilets, so its a little too small to act as a meeting room as such. I refer to it as a tea room because it has a sink and a kettle in it:)
I have a memory from around 1960 of some cellars behing that building and they coulod be accessed by a door in the building. It was possible to look down in to the cellars through a hole and there appeared to be bottles down there. There were also a couple of green houses ack there where plants for the park were grown.

There was also a Leopard creeping over a 'rock' above and behind the tigers. The budgies were just a damn nusance.
